About Us

About the Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta

CPAA was founded in 1976 by a group of highly committed parents with children with cerebral palsy. Over the years, the organization has grown from servicing a dozen members to over 1700 province wide.

At CPAA, we are creating a Life without Limits for individuals with disabilities and their families by providing programs and services, advocacy and education through out the province of Alberta.

CPAA serves people of all abilities through:

  • Individual and family support programs;
  • Information and referral services;
  • Employment training;
  • Sport, social and recreation programs;
  • Community and government relations;
  • Educational and awareness activities.

In addition, we have a comprehensive "Go Green" Program, which allows us to raise vital funds for the organization while at the same time helping the environment. The Go Green Programs includes our existing clothing donation program in partnership with Value Village, which continues to generate over 40% of the revenues to support our programs. Other initiatives include the electronic recycling program where we collect old cell phones, laptops, PDAs and a host of other electronic devices, as well as our newest initiative, the beverage container recycling program which is continually growing throughout the province.
