VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR

The 2022 recipients of the Life Without Limits Volunteer Award are Darlene Smith and Kalvin Eng.

Darlene Smith has done so much for us from volunteering in three programs, Gleeful Gardening, Art FUNdamentals, and the Heart & Soul Music Therapy as well as the well known, Gifts from the Heart event. Darlene has also helped with our Parent Support Group and has assisted various presentations for grants and videos using not only her volunteer voice but that of a concerned parent as well.
Darlene is very reliable, punctual and always helps with the set up and clean up of all the programs she volunteers in. Darlene has gone above and beyond, and all her hard work is greatly appreciated.
We want to thank Darlene for her time and devotion to our great cause and congratulate her on receiving this year’s Volunteer of the Year Award for CP Alberta, Calgary.

Kalvin Eng started volunteering at our Computability program in 2016. Since the start, he has been a passionate and dedicated volunteer.  Kalvin has such a great approach, motivating people to learn and grow in each program, he shows examples on how to use iPad from the basics to more advanced features and accessories. He is also very knowledgeable about computers and technology.  A favourite memory is when Kalvin helped one of our clients create a presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint, working on slides from the basics to finishing with a very advanced presentation. The client was able to proudly present their PowerPoint to everyone in the program at the end of the session.
Kalvin’s leadership has shown through the years, as he is able to run the whole program in the instructor’s absence and is very good at following instructions and putting them into practice.
Kalvin is currently studying for his PhD at the University of Alberta in Software Engineering. His hobbies include running and rock climbing.
We want to thank Kalvin for his support and service to our organization and congratulate him on receiving this year’s Volunteer of the Year Award for CP Alberta, Edmonton.
