Recreation - Computability Program This
volunteer position is an excellent
practicum opportunity for someone who wants to share their computer
knowledge
and possesses information technology skills. This volunteer will assist
individuals with computer start-up and log in, accessing e-mail,
browsing the internet, working with productivity software, etc.
Patience, teaching skills, a strong knowledge of computers and
willingness to help
others are an asset. Dates and
Times: Daytime weekday availability required.
Sessions are typically one to two hours long and run once a week.
Flexibility exists,
sessions dates and times can work around your schedule. Location: Edmonton Office,

Recreation - Ballerina Dreams This volunteer will assist children with
special needs during this modified therapeutic dance program, taught by a
registered occupational therapist who is also a dance instructor. Some experience with children and creative
dance would be desirable, as well as a sociable nature and an interest in
having fun! Location:
DanceCo Ltd, 9030 McKenney Avenue, St. Albert, AB.
Recreation - Adult Bowling This volunteer practicum opportunity
combines the fun of bowling and the joys of knowing you are making a difference
in someone’s life. This volunteer will be setting up ramps,
accompanying program participants to the lane as necessary, socializing and creating a fun
atmosphere for friends to meet together. You will also be assisting the team
leader with attendance and award presentation. No bowling experience is
required, but enthusiasm is a must!
Recreation - Members' Support Group Need a night away from studying? Come socialize with our members' support group. This volunteer will be helping with group interactions, group member participation, and other various activities. A desire to socialize, have fun and be a friend is a must!
Recreation - Members' Support Group Dinner Night Need a night away from studying? Come socialize with our
members' support group and enjoy an evening out at an Edmonton restaurant. This volunteer will assist members as needed. Desire to assist members with meals, socialize, and be a good friend is a must!
Special Events - May 2009 Awareness Month Display Tables: Various dates throughout May. Special Events - The Edmonton Annual Members' Picnic This volunteer will be outgoing, friendly, and able to assist members with general needs. Duties include food preparation and serving - as well as helping with set-up and clean-up. Must be willing to have fun and enjoy good food!
The Edmonton office of the Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta is again partnering with the Edmonton Food Bank to collect donations during Heritage Days. Volunteeers are required to help with food donations as well as loading the Cerebral Palsy Association truck. The ability to lift up to 30 lbs is a must. Have fun while supporting the Cerebral Palsy Association and the Edmonton Food Bank.
Come on out and help with our yearly race. Have a great time helping out while getting to know lots of great people. Special Events - International Day of Disabled Persons We need volunteers to man our display table along with members of our staff, in order to provide information to the public in a courteous and helpful manner at the International Day of Disabled Persons festivities at Edmonton City Hall. Volunteers should be outgoing, friendly, and courteous - and willing to learn all the facts about cerebral palsy, our mission, vision, and the purpose of our Association in Alberta, as well as being aware of related activities and services. Training will be provided.Date: Wednesday, December 3 , 2008 Location: Edmonton City Hall Call Centre Opportunities Do you like to talk to people? Dates and Times: Ongoing- daytime weekday availability required. Sessions are typically two hours long and run twice a week. Flexibility exists, sessions dates and times can work around your schedule. Location: Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta, lower level of Calgary Rotary Challenger Park Jim and Pearl Burns Centre (3688 48 Ave. NE).
Art Fundamentals If you have an artistic streak then this is the position for you! Come help participants to create works of art through painting, sculpting, drawing and more, as well as helping our art instructor to prepare materials and clean up. One volunteer is needed who would also be able to assist a participant with mobility and moving from a chair to a wheelchair. Dates: Thursday Mornings, for 12 weeks Dance Do you catch yourself moving to the beat of the drum? Why not share that passion with children? This volunteer will assist children with special needs during dancing sessions. An integrated routine will be produced and practiced weekly, including performances in various shows within the community. Sign up to dance with us and be a mentor coach today!
Horticulture Therapy Assistant Come support a team of gardeners in community settings with weeding, watering, deadheading and planting. Assist the Horticulture Specialist in offering therapy by working with plants, water, and stimulating the senses. Tours, community garden projects and various guest presentations are also part of this program.

Members' Support Group Looking for a fun alternative for Tuesday nights? Come socialize with our members' support group. This volunteer will be helping with group interactions, group member participation, and other various activities. Desire to socialize and be a friend is a must!
Weekend Retreat Camp Need a night away from studying? Come socialize with our adult support group. This volunteer will be helping with removing outdoor gear, serving and feeding meals (and eating as well!), watching movies, playing games, taking part in guest presentations, observing interactions among group members and participating in various other activities. Desire to socialize and be a friend is a must!
Community Awareness and Education Presentation Assistant Enjoy sharing your story with others? Come and help us with our community education program. Volunteer needed to accompany our coordinator of education to presentations and information sessions in various locations across Calgary. This volunteer will be a friendly person who has great public speaking skills. This volunteer will also be a member with the Cerebral Palsy Association, or have experience with cerebral palsy/be a person with cerebral palsy.
Community Education - Teen Program *Currently on hold for summer* Enjoy working with young people? Come out and help us with our new teen program. We are seeking a program assistant that will assist our members in the program and also organize snacks for the event.
Community Education - Employment Program Come out and help people find jobs! This volunteer will help our members with job transition and employment services. A desire to socialize and make friends is a must!
Special Events - Life Without Limits Challenge (Pre-Event) We are seeking volunteers to help with invitation mail outs, making signs, and race bag stuffing.

Special Events - Life Without Limits Gala and Auction Volunteer Enjoy interacting with people? Come out to help with our largest fundraiser of the year! This event requires a variety of diverse volunteer positions, including; Welcoming/ greeting guests, helping set-up and monitor silent auction tables, monitoring bid sheets, helping winners collect items, registering guests for bid cards, assisting in set-up and clean-up, and other duties as required. Volunteers for these positions must be 18 yrs or older.
