Creativity You Can Wear

There’s something special about art that you can wear.

In one of our recent art class, participants transformed plain aprons into vibrant, one-of-a-kind creations. Using paint, colour, texture, and plenty of imagination, each artist designed an apron that reflects their personality and creativity.

For some, it was about bold colours and big brushstrokes. For others, it was careful details and meaningful symbols. Every apron tells a story — and every story deserves to be celebrated.

Projects like this are about more than just art. They build confidence, encourage self-expression, and create space for connection and joy. Watching the pride on participants’ faces as they shared their finished pieces reminded us why creative programs matter so much.

We’re so proud of these talented artists and can’t wait to see what they create next.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
