Staff Stories: Janis Zalitach

During my time as a Program Coordinator with CP Alberta, I have the privilege of supporting individuals on their journeys toward growth, confidence, and independence. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is witnessing the meaningful progress and achievements of our participants—whether big or small.

Equally impactful is observing the social transformation that takes place within our programs. Participants who begin as strangers gradually build connections, share experiences, and form genuine friendships. These relationships foster a strong sense of belonging and create a supportive community where individuals can thrive together.

Being part of these moments—both the personal accomplishments and the connections formed—is something I truly value. It reinforces my belief in the importance of inclusive, supportive programming and the power of connection in helping people live a life without limits.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
