50 for 50 Grind

On June 21st, Chris completed his 50 for 50 Grind for Cerebral Palsy Alberta. See below for his recap: @acceptnolimit on Instagram

This one was a battle.

I embrace the process of preparation, but the last two weeks tried hard to derail it. Foot issues one week, knee issues the next. Crucial prep time got cut short, but the date was set. There was no turning back.

Then came the day!! Cold, relentless rain, heavy winds. I was soaked from the first step. But I embraced it and locked into a strong pace early on.

My friend Krissy joined me at 7km and crushed the next 7 with me. I held a solid pace through the first 25–30km.

At 32km, my client and friend @emmiewhemmy showed up right when things started to get tough, blisters were hitting hard. I stopped longer than planned to change socks, shoes, and manage the damage, but kept moving forward.

By 36km, everything started to shut down, feet, hips, knees, back. All of it. My body was not moving smoothly. Headspace took over.

With 14km to go, my wife @sokolmilne and daughter @sophiee.milnee met me. @kiana_milne couldn’t be there in person due to work, but she checked in and supported throughout.

The support from them all during those final, painful kilometers meant more than I can say.

Thank you to @the_brow_boutique and @elainewills for joining the final few km to bring it home.

When I first came up with this challenge, I had no idea it would land on the 50th anniversary of @cpalberta . That made the “50 for 50” even more meaningful and made it that much more important to finish what I started.

This wasn’t just about distance or weight. It was about showing up for a cause that matters. We’re close to hitting our fundraising goal, and donations are open for one more week. Click here to support. Let’s finish strong.

Huge thanks to everyone who donated, shared, messaged, or supported in any way. And to the team at @lululemon Southcentre thank you for keeping me geared up and ready to face whatever needs to be overcome.

This one was brutal but we're so close to that goal. Link in bio to donate.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
