A Grape Partnership

Building relationships is a big part of what we do at CP Alberta. Once we work with you on a program or event, we want to continue that partnership so it is beneficial for both of us. We don't just take - we want to give, too.

Our relationship with City & Country Winery began in 2020 with a Wine sponsorship for our Hush Gala and has continued ever since. Seeing their wine on our tables has become something guests look forward to each year, and no matter the theme of the gala, their product always pairs well.

In February, staff from our Calgary office were invited to learn about the bottling process and volunteer their time to bottle some of their product. This was a wonderful way to get to know our sponsors better and to see the hard work put into each bottle of their locally made wine.

About City & Country

Chris and Karen Fodor—the passionate pair behind City & Country Winery—have a simple recipe to thank for their love story: good wine, great friends, and a bit of perfect timing. The two first crossed paths in 2010, when Chris was working at the award‑winning MUSE Winery on Vancouver Island. Karen had just come back from a family cattle drive in Alberta, and fate, it seems, decided it was the right moment for their worlds to meet.

City & Country’s origins are as grounded and intentional as the couple themselves. The vision began in a vineyard and evolved slowly, shaped over more than five years of brand development and two full vintages in the Okanagan. By 2019, their dream materialized as Calgary’s only urban winery—a unique space bringing the vineyard experience into the heart of the city.

But just as the winery opened its doors and momentum began to build, the world shifted. The pandemic arrived, bringing uncertainty to a young business. Still, creativity, resilience, and community carried City & Country forward. Chris, driven by his love of hospitality, and Karen, inspired by her passion for natural health, stayed determined and optimistic—even on the toughest days.

It’s this spirit, supported by their incredible family and community, that defines City & Country today. People are at the core of everything they do, and every bottle they craft tells a story of connection, perseverance, and love.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
