Breaking, Splattering, and Building Connections: A Staff Team-Building Adventure

At CP Alberta, we know that strong teams are built through shared experiences, collaboration, and a little bit of fun. Thanks to the rain and a postponed Golf Without Limits event, our Edmonton staff and part of our Leadership Team stepped away from their desks and headed to Axe Monkeys in Edmonton for an afternoon of team building that was anything but ordinary.

The day featured two unique activities: a paint splatter room and a rage room.

First up was the paint splatter experience, where creativity took center stage. Armed with paint, protective gear, and plenty of enthusiasm, staff members transformed small blank canvases into colourful works of art. There were no rules, no expectations, and no pressure to create a masterpiece—just an opportunity to have fun, express ourselves, and embrace a little chaos. The room quickly filled with laughter as paint flew and everyone's artistic side emerged.

Next, it was time to let off some steam in the rage room. Equipped with safety gear and a variety of breakable items, staff members had the chance to smash, crash, and shatter objects in a safe and controlled environment. Whether it was stress relief, curiosity, or simply the thrill of breaking something, the experience provided plenty of memorable moments and more than a few smiles.

While the activities themselves were exciting, the real value of the day came from spending time together outside of our usual work environment. Team-building events give us the opportunity to strengthen relationships, connect with colleagues in new ways, and create shared memories that carry back into the workplace.

A positive workplace culture is built on more than just the work we do—it is built on the people we work alongside every day. Experiences like these help foster communication, trust, and camaraderie, all of which contribute to a stronger team and a more supportive workplace.

A big thank you to Axe Monkeys for hosting us and providing such a unique and entertaining experience. Judging by the laughter, paint-covered coveralls, and shattered remains in the rage room, we would call the day a smashing success!

monkey mart? Yeah, it's one of those supermarket games that just sucks you in. You grow crops, stack shelves, help customers, and before you know it, that little jungle shop you started with turns into a whole retail empire packed with products and happy shoppers.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
