Celebrating the Heart of Our Community: National Volunteer Week

Every year, National Volunteer Week gives us the opportunity to pause, reflect, and celebrate the incredible people who make our work possible—our volunteers.

At CP Alberta, volunteers are more than just helping hands. They are champions of inclusion, builders of community, and a vital part of everything we do. Whether they’re supporting programs, lending their time at events, or helping behind the scenes, their impact reaches far beyond the moments they give—it creates lasting change in the lives of individuals and families across Alberta.

The Power of Showing Up

Volunteering is about more than time—it’s about connection.

It’s the volunteer who cheers on a child trying something new for the first time.

It’s the extra set of hands that helps a program run smoothly.

It’s the friendly face that makes someone feel welcomed, included, and valued.

These moments may seem small, but together, they build a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone belongs.

Creating Possibilities, Together

This year’s National Volunteer Week theme reminds us that every act of service contributes to something bigger. Our volunteers help break down barriers, open doors, and create opportunities for people with disabilities to thrive.

From programs like adapted recreation and early intervention, to fundraising events and community initiatives, volunteers are woven into every part of our work. Their passion and dedication help us continue building a future where inclusion isn’t the exception—it’s the expectation.

A Heartfelt Thank You

To every volunteer who has given their time, energy, and compassion—thank you.

Thank you for showing up.

Thank you for believing in our mission.

Thank you for helping us create a more inclusive Alberta.

You are the reason we can do what we do.

Get Involved

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, there’s no better time to start. Whether you have a few hours to give or are looking for a more ongoing opportunity, your time can make a meaningful difference.

Join us in creating possibilities—because when we come together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
