Leadership Through Service: Celebrating Our Volunteer Board of Directors

When people think of volunteers, they often picture helping hands at events or in programs. But behind the scenes, there’s another group of dedicated individuals helping guide our organization forward—our Board of Directors.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to recognize an often unseen, but deeply impactful group of volunteers who play a critical role in everything we do.

Volunteers at the Leadership Table

Our Board of Directors is made up of individuals who generously give their time, expertise, and leadership to support our mission. They are professionals, community members, and advocates who believe in creating a more inclusive Alberta—and choose to take an active role in making that vision a reality.

As volunteers, they dedicate countless hours to governance, strategic planning, and decision-making. Their role is to ensure our organization remains strong, accountable, and focused on the needs of the individuals and families we serve.

(Below are photos of a few of our Board members)

Guiding Our Mission Forward

Every program we run, every event we host, and every milestone we celebrate is supported by the leadership of our Board.

They help shape our direction, provide oversight, and bring diverse perspectives that strengthen our work. Their commitment ensures that we are not only meeting today’s needs, but also building a sustainable future for our community.

A Legacy of Volunteer Leadership

As we celebrate 50 years, we recognize that our growth and impact have been guided by generations of volunteer board members. Their dedication has helped us evolve, expand, and continue creating opportunities for inclusion across Alberta.

The legacy of our organization is not only built on programs and services—but on the people who have stepped up to lead, often quietly and without recognition.

Thank You

To our current and past Board members—thank you.

Thank you for your leadership.

Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your commitment to inclusion.

Your work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is felt in every corner of our organization.

geometry dash challenges players to guide a cube across music-synced terrains packed with deadly hazards. One small mistake means starting over. Although the early stages seem simple, the game soon becomes brutally difficult.

What makes the game stand out is its transformation system. When entering portals, the cube changes form, and each form comes with entirely different controls. Players must think fast and adapt instantly, creating a dynamic and ever-changing gameplay experience.

We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
